The company known as SuperUFO has recently released a new flash device for the Nintendo 64 format. The device is a ROM cartridge emulator, flash card and backup system for the N64 platform, and was made available after the successful release of the Super UFO8 SD Super Nintendo cartridge. It allows you to play your favorite backup game on actual hardware, and follows a simple format for use. Just copy your Rom files onto the SD card , put your SD into ED64Plus Cartridge, insert cart and start playing. What could be simpler? We have more details for you below the cut.

According to SuperUFO, the device has the following capabilities:

  • 64Mbyte (512mbit) SDRAM for ROM data

The cartridge with require a commercially released Nintendo 64 game cartridge with CIC6102 to be plugged into it as a dongle for the lockout function that Nintendo was infamous for. The ED64Plus will launch a ROM with the corresponding save type automatically. All save types are fully supported. The menu allows changing of the save type prior to launching a ROM if needed. This is accomplished by pressing the L/R buttons to cycle through the different types of cartridge saves. When a game is playing, pressing the Reset button will take the user back to the ED64Plus menu, and the ED64Plus automatically creates a save file on the inserted SD Card. Each save game will have an extension corresponding to what type of save it is.
